This is my 21st year of teaching science at Placer High School! Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a Chemist in an environmental lab. Although I enjoyed this job, I left laboratory work to be with people! Teaching allows me to combine my love of science and people. I really love the combination of right-brain creativity in the development of lessons with the left-brained subject of chemistry, earth science, and forensics. I get to teach a variety of classes for Placer High including Chemistry, Biology, Earth Science and, of course, Forensics - a super-fun, college-board approved (a to g) elective science class open to everyone who has had Biology and Algebra 1.
I have attended several universities. I went wherever I could get free money!! I attended UC Davis, Long Beach State, Fullerton State, and Sacramento State.
My favorite way to spend time is with the people that I love, including my husband, three kids (who graduated from Placer High!), and wonderful friends. I also have 4 dogs, 2 aquatic turtles, stick bugs, and about 20 horses and 10 pigs.
Up until just less than a year ago, I was an avid road cyclist. Last year I came down with leukemia and could not ride. I'm getting much better, however, and hope to start riding again soon.
I love to read, particularly mysteries and adventure stories, including my favorite author, Clive Cussler. I have an amazing garden in which I grow flowers and lots of organic, yummy vegetables.
I travel whenever I can. Last summer I went to Italy. This summer I was very fortunate to travel to Hawaii, twice! Next summer will either be Alaska or the Galapagos!!!!!!!
